Fumihiko Gomi’s style is a bit different from that of other artists, for example, he paints trees as if they were still lifes, or he tears up photographs of women and reconstructs them in detail. I have always wanted to ask him why he created these works, but I always feel like I am left in the dark. So this time, we would like to explore Fumihiko Gomi’s way of looking at things by asking him to comment on each of his works.

In this exhibition, we will be showing the works of Fumihiko Gomi himself, along with his comments on his obsession with “seeing” in his still life paintings, his thoughts on various motifs such as lemon and glass, and his thoughts on his surrealistic style and landscape series of paintings. The exhibition is an opportunity to view Gomi’s “way of looking at things” through his works.
We invite you to experience the artist’s awareness and thoughts that go beyond technical skill and are incorporated into his meticulously detailed realistic paintings.

The Hoki Museum of Art Platinum Grand Prize, an open competition for realistic artists 41 years of age and older, is now in its third year.
A total of 245 works were submitted this year, of which 60 were selected for the Grand Prize.
Although many strong works were submitted, there were no Grand Prize winners.
The exhibition will be changed every two months, and all the selected works will be displayed over a six-month period.
